Sorry about the lack of posts lately! Things have been so busy, but I promise I will try to catch up soon. I do want to let you all know about a fundraiser I am hosting for dear friends of ours who are in the process of adopting from Ethiopia. Have you ever heard of the Noonday Collection? If you haven't, you need to! Noonday provides a way out of poverty for artisans around the globe. They hand-make jewelry, scarves, bags, and other accessory items. Click the link below to watch a video about Noonday:

In addition to supporting their artisans, a percentage of the sales from my fundraiser will go to the Crawford family's adoption fund. You get to buy gorgeous accessories and support wonderful causes at the same time! This is a major win-win :)
I am having a party at my house tonight, but you don't need to be able to attend or even live close by to participate. Order by visiting tesneydavis.noondaycollection.com, select "Tesney Davis" as your ambassador, and enter "Crawford adoption" as the trunk show. I'm not sure what the deadline is to order, but I am sure you have at least through this weekend. What are you waiting for? Go shopping! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
"The Road goes ever on and on / Down from the door where it began. / Now far ahead the Road has gone, / And I must follow, if I can, / Pursuing it with eager feet, / Until it joins some larger way / Where many paths and errands meet. / And whither then? I cannot say." - J. R. R. Tolkien

Four
Our Mercy Catherine would have been four years old today.
When I was holding my daughter and she stopped breathing, our pastor ushered everyone out of the room, but he stopped at the door and came back to say a quick prayer. I don't remember most of what he said, but very vividly I can hear him start the prayer by saying, "Jesus, give us a hope."
And because of Jesus, we do have that hope amidst all the brokenness around us. Obviously, we have not been promised a life without suffering. We have bigger and better promises than that. God has promised us redemption and eternal life as His adopted children -- not because of anything we have done, but because of Jesus's death and resurrection. He has also promised that He loves us and cares for us, even when he allows us to suffer. These promises are steadfast, no matter our feelings, no matter our circumstances.
All these things are true. But we have to remind ourselves of them often, and especially on February 15, because our hearts still ache for our precious girl.
